What are the differences between the types of splashback glass?
We use 6mm thick toughened glass for all our splashbacks. Clear toughened glass has a green tinge on the edge of the glass which is the natural iron content in the glass being visible. This is great for dark colours, or blue/green colours as it goes generally unnoticed and allows for people with a smaller budget. Ultra-clear toughened glass is slightly dearer but it has the iron taken out of it, which makes it virtually crystal clear and is perfect for lighter colours, whites, and colour match colours. Silver 10 is normal mirror that has been toughened. Silver 25 is a grey / smokey tinted mirror thatches been toughened.
What is the process to produce a glass splashback?
We come to your home to discuss colours and measure the space (once all benchtops, carpentry and electrical works are completed), then once the quote is approved, we start proceeding with your custom glass order. This includes, cutting the glass to size, polishing the edges, processing any cutouts for powerpoints or holes, then the glass gets toughened in a furnace (for strength and heat resistance) then it goes to the spray painting area to be coated with your colour of choice. Once it is dry and has been quality checked, we can book in an installation date. We install the glass into place and then seal the perimeter with silicone.
Can splashbacks be customised to fit awkward spaces?
Absolutely. Splashbacks can be cut to size, including around power points or corners, ensuring a perfect fit for any wall.
